Main Period: Victorian -  Interwar

Leadlight apparent at No’s 39, 41, 45, 47, 53, 55 & 70

Church Street runs from Alt Street in Ashfield west, across Frederick, Croydon Road to Lang Street in Croydon. The buildings in the street span a period from Victorian (1890’s) to Federation, Australian Californian bungalow and late interwar homes. Dwellings in the eastern end are generally Victorian and change to Queen Anne Federation and Californian bungalows at the western end. No leadlight can be observed east of Frederick Street.

Church Street

No 39 is a Californian Bungalow. It has a three panel casement window on the verandah and a three panel casement angled bay window. Each panel has a dominant square of bevelled glass and strong vertical elements that descend from the square. These are balanced by gentle curves that almost look like wings.
