Summer Hill

Edward Street

Main Period: Victorian

Leadlight apparent at No’s 9 & 15.

There are a lot of old Victorian terrace houses and small Victorian cottages in Edward Street particularly on the western side. On the eastern side there are a few weatherboard Victorian era cottages along with some industrial development and more modern terrace style housing.

The first lots were auctioned as part of the 1885 Summer Hill Estate. All the lots on the north western side were shown as sold in the auction of the Summer Hill Estate in 1887. Consequently, there are only two dwellings in Edward Street that have retained any leadlight and what is retained is in the front entrance.

Edward Street

No 9 is a Victorian house probably built between 1885 - 1887 with leadlight in the front door panels,  sidelights & tops and fanlight. This is typical Victorian Leadlight from the mid-1880’s, geometric, rather austere and with roundels.
