Forrest Street

Main Period: Federation

Leadlight apparent at No’s 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 & 17

Forrest Street was part of Stanton’s  1st Haberfield Estate. It is a relatively short street with some superb Federation houses. Most of the houses were constructed during the early to mid-Federation period and demonstrate how leadlight in the early years after Federation was almost always confined to the front door panels or the entrance sidelights and fanlights. The architecture and leadlight at No 17 demonstrates this wonderfully.

Forrest Street was part of the 1st Subdivision and has some fine examples of Federation leadlight.

Forrest Street

No 1 is a modified Federation house with leadlight in the three panel casement window on the left with a three panel casement on the right. Both these windows have a wide transom. The design has a circle of bevelled glass as the focus surrounded by a geometric pattern. It looks great from the street.
