HURLSTONE PARK

Garnet Street

Main Period: Victorian-Federation - Interwar

Leadlight apparent at No’s 20, 22, 24, 30, 62, 88 & 90

Garnet Street is on the border of Hurlstone Park and Dulwich Hill  with only the houses on the western side in Hurlstone Park. There are some wonderful houses in Garnet Street and some of them have retained some marvellous examples of leadlight from the late Victorian period.  The older the house the more the leadlight is likely to be confined to the entrance.

This map shows that parts of Garnet Street were subdivided as far back as 1893.

Garnet Street

No 20 is a magnificent late Victorian house (c.1887) with leadlight in the front door panels in the side lights probably in the fan lights as well. The design is very late Victorian; geometric and colourful.
