ASHFIELD
Grainger Avenue
Main Period: Interwar
Leadlight apparent at No’s 12, 16 & 17
Grainger Avenue is a small cul-de-sac that runs of Elizabeth Street not far from the station. It is almost entirely Interwar flats and units. What it does have are some fine examples of leadlight used in the stairwells of these units (No’s 12 & 16).
Grainger Avenue
No 12 has a great set of double doors at the entrance that are intact after all these years. What a tribute to their manufacture. There is even with what may be an error with the placement of one of the small coloured diamonds in the vertical element.
There is also a large leadlight panel above the entrance that is definitely Art Deco and is the same as in No 16.
