ASHFIELD

Hardy Street

Main Period: Late Federation - Interwar

Leadlight apparent at No’s 4, 24, 30, 34, 38, 40, 42 & 46

Hardy street is a long street running from almost almost Canterbury Road through to Queen Street. It has a Federation feel to it. Some of the houses on the east/high side are set well back and built in an interwar style of the Australian Bungalow. Only those dwellings in Ashfield have been included here as parts of Hardy Street are in the suburb of Hurlstone Park. There are some excellent examples of Federation bull’s eye windows in Hardy Street.

Hardy Street

No 4 is a Federation house with two bull’s eyes on the verandah.  There is also leadlight in the French doors and in the fanlight (but this may be a later addition).
