ASHFIELD

Murrell Street

Main Period: Interwar

Leadlight apparent at No’s 4 & 6

Murrell Street was subdivided from Murrell's Orchard in the 1880’s. It runs between Liverpool Road and the railway. It is now a street of Interwar flats and even these are being threatened.

Murrell Street

The two blocks of flats at No 4 & 6 have leadlight windows with a radiant design and most have a bevelled square or diamond as the focus. They all have heavily textured/patterned glass. They are great because they put leadlight not just in the first floor stairwell but in the living rooms of the flats.
