ASHFIELD

Oak Street

Main Period: Federation

Leadlight apparent at No’s 4. 6. 13, 15, 16, 17, 19, 26, 28, 29, 31, 32, 33 & 35

The Elizabeth Street end of Oak Street was subdivided in 1903 and the northern section in 1917. It is a beautiful tree lined street. Many of the houses date from the late Federation Period with the street initially subdivided in 1913. There is an evolutionary progression of houses from one end to the other from Federation to Californian.

Oak Street

No’s 2 & 4 are a pair of Federation semi’s. The front door fanlight at No 4 is very ‘florid’ and has a lot of strong colours in the glass. No clear glass is used and this is very much like Victorian leadlight.
