ASHFIELD

Richmond Avenue

Main Period: Interwar

Leadlight apparent at Nos 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 & 10

Richmond Avenue is another small street not far from Rectory Avenue and appears to have been developed at the same time. All the houses that have leadlight are Californian bungalows.

Richmond Avenue

No 2 has a three panel casement on the verandah and a 5 panel casement square bay window. There are small beveled squares in the outer panels and a larger beveled square in the central panel. In each of these panels there is a vertical element of textured glass. The only colour in each of the panels is in two small pieces of opaque pink glass. It is a very effective design.

There is a four panel casement on the first floor that also uses a square at the focal point. Each of the panels has the same design and it is different to the ground floor windows. These windows may be a later addition. There are also small windows with a beveled square on the north and south side.
