Wallace Street still has a few weatherboard cottages that were built in the late Victorian to early Federation period. Most of the lots were sold as the Fyle Estate No 1 in 1914 or Fyle Estate No 2 in 1917. Both subdivisions had a ‘moderate building covenant for the protection of buyers such that buildings not to ‘cost less than £450’. The effect of covenants such as these affected the quality of the homes built and the relatively consistent appearance of Wallace Street. If Federation leadlight appeals then this is a good walk.

Wallace Street

No 3 has leadlight in the two front door panels with a flower in a circle and ‘pull cord’ drops.
