DULWICH HILL

Fairmount Street

Main Period: Victorian - Federation

Fairmont Street.jpg

Leadlight apparent at No’s 14, 22, 26, 28, 30 & 32.

The fairmount Estate was Auctioned some time in the 1880's. The advertising on the right is wonderful.  The development of Fairmont undoubtedly occurred in the 1880’s and 1890’s when the area was more likely to be regarded as part of Summer Hill. The Street has a mixture of free standing dwellings and two storey terraces.

Fairmount Estate - Windsor Rd, Rosedale

Fairmount Street

No’s 30 and 32 are a pair of Federation semi-detached houses each with leadlight in a three panel casement window and in their fanlights beautiful on the verandah. These may not be original designs but they certainly look very beautiful and they’ve been very sympathetically done if they’re reproductions. Its is difficult to spot the original from the street and that is a good sign.
