HURLSTONE PARK

Short Street

Main Period: Federation

The hand drawn map on the left was used to draw up the advertising for the First Subdivision of the Fernhill (Jeffrey's Estate) in 1893.

Leadlight apparent at No 1

Short Street is a very short street and it is one of the older streets in Hurlstone Park. Fernhill was the original name for many of the estates and even the suburb before it was changed to Hurlstone Park. Lots in Short Street were released for auction in 1893 and at least two of the houses appear to have been built not long after this. Only one house has retained its leadlight.

Short Street

No 1 is an early Federation house (c.1900) with beautiful leadlight in the front door panels, sidelights & tops and in the fanlight. The house and the entrance are beautiful.
